Honest advice
If a tree can be saved with pruning rather than removed, we'll tell you, because we'd rather keep a healthy tree standing than take on unnecessary work.

Prana Tree provides safe, professional tree removal and dismantling across the Kapiti Coast, from Paraparaumu and Waikanae to Raumati, Ōtaki and Paekākāriki. Whether it's a storm-damaged tree on an exposed coastal section or a large removal tight against a house, our NZQA Level 4-qualified arborists handle it safely and leave the site clean.
Every job starts with a free, no-obligation on-site quote.
We remove trees throughout the Kapiti Coast, including:
If you're just outside these areas, further up towards Levin, or south towards Porirua, we cover the wider region too. Get in touch, and we'll let you know.
The Kapiti Coast puts trees under conditions you don't get further inland, and it changes how they need to be removed.
Coastal environments are generally tougher on trees than sheltered inland sites. Wind exposure and salt-laden air can affect tree health and stability over time, and on exposed properties, wind and storm damage are common reasons people need a tree removed. Species like macrocarpa and pine are widely planted across the region, alongside natives such as pōhutukawa.
Where a tree sits also matters, near homes, boundaries, power lines, or out on an open section, and so does the type of property, from residential sections to the larger lifestyle blocks more common further north around Waikanae and Ōtaki. Rather than treat every removal the same, we take the individual tree and site into account when we assess it.

Most Kapiti removals aren't a matter of simply felling a tree in the open. They're close to houses, fences, gardens, neighbouring properties, or powerlines, which means the tree has to come down under control.
For these, we use sectional dismantling: the tree is climbed and removed piece by piece from the top down, with each section rigged and lowered carefully to protect what's below. This includes controlled removal of trees close to power lines. Where there's genuinely open space, controlled felling may be an option instead.
If you'd like to understand the difference between removal methods in more detail, our general Tree Removal & Dismantling page explains how each one works.
There's no fixed price for tree removal, because every tree and every site is different. A small tree on an open section is a completely different job from a large one dismantled tight against a house near the coast. Size, access, the removal method required, and clean-up all affect the cost.
Rather than give a misleading online estimate, we quote each job in person, for free, so the number you get reflects your actual tree and site. You can read more about what affects the cost of tree removal on our dedicated page.
Before some trees can be removed, council sign-off may be required, and the Kapiti Coast District Council has its own rules around protected and notable trees, which differ from Wellington City. If your tree may be protected, or the work needs documentation for a permit or resource consent, our Tree Assessment service prepares the reports councils actually require. If you're not sure whether your tree is affected, an arborist consultation is the place to start.
We work for Kapiti homeowners and commercial clients alike, from a single dangerous tree in a back garden to larger removals for schools, body corporates, property managers, and commercial or retail properties. The scale changes; the standard doesn't. For ongoing commercial needs, we also offer scheduled commercial tree maintenance.
